While their rivals are working hard to sign new players this summer, English Premier League giants Liverpool have been working behind closed doors to agree terms with their players to sign new long-term contracts. The Reds have only completed the signing of one player so far this summer after announcing that they had agreed a deal with German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for the transfer of French defender Ibrahima Konate before the end of last season. Since then, their next transfer business has been the departure of midfielder Georgio Wijnaldum, who left Anfield to sign for French Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain after contract negotiations broke down.
There are some good stories coming out of the club though, as two of their best players Fabinho and Alisson have both signed new long-term contracts at the club. Brazilian midfielder Fabinho agreed to sign a new five-year deal at Anfield while his compatriot, Alisson put pen to paper on a new contract extension that will see him remain at the club for another six years.
Fabinho’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2026 while Alisson’s contract has been extended till 2027. After completing the new deals, Liverpool will now focus on extending the contracts of other important players in the coming weeks.
