Premier League holders Manchester City are plotting to take top spot ahead of the visit of South London team Crystal Palace. The Premier League champions will play hosts to Palace at the Etihad Stadium and they are favourites to get the three points at stake.
City lost top spot to North London club Arsenal after they were forced to a 3-3 draw at Newcastle United. The Premier League holders took the lead through German midfielder Gundogan in the fifth minute at the expense of the Magpies who are the new moneybags in European football. Newcastle United responded to the adversity of going behind very early in the game with two goals to take a 2-1 lead into the half-time break. Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson were the goalscorers for the Magpies. England international Kieran Trippier extended the lead for Newcastle United in the second half via a free-kick before City showed character to fight back to 3-3 through the goals from Norwegian international ErlingHaaland and Portuguese star Bernardo Silva who was making his first league start of the season. Silva was also the assist provider for the opener from Gundogan. City had chances to win the game against the Magpies, but they could not take those chances.
With the draw at the home of Newcastle United, City are in second spot and two points off leaders Arsenal ahead of the fourth set of Premier League games this season. Manchester City can return to the Premier League summit with a win at home to Crystal Palace since they play before Arsenal on Saturday.
